So i recently sold my ap1 and got 97 coupe. i have a b16a that im currently building but for the mean time i want to do my exhaust on my d series so i dont gotta buy one when i swap the b16 in.
anyways i wanted to do a js racing but they only make it for the ek9 and dc2 so i was wondering if anyone has installed it on a coupe and if so what would i need to do
Generally all of the exhausts are the same to the muffler inlet. Some hatchback exhausts have a shorter can but usually the difference for the coupe/sedan version is that the tailpipe itself is extended. Not sure about you, but that means hacking up the visible part of the J's exhaust to make it work and I'm not super into it.
In addition to the length difference in tail pipe, from my experience in swapping a stock integra axleback onto a 00 CIvic coupe, there are some minor differences in the hangers too. An exhaust shop or welder can probably fix the issues, but at the time, I just wanted a stock replacement muffler so it wasn't worth looking into it any further.
You have several options. With a JDM short cat you can connect to a 2.5" header. Then a 96 spec DC2 b-pipe has one big resonator in the middle and one small resonator at the back. Or the 98 spec DC2 b-pipe that adds a 3rd small resonator right after the cat. Probably to help quiet the factory 4-1 a little extra. This works for b-series headers made for JDM B18C-R. I have a Tegiwa Toda 98-spec knockoff (discontinued?), 96-spec ITR cat & b-pipe and EK9 muffler.
This pic is a 96 spec. 98 has an extra resonator where I circled #3.
I do get a little rattle if I bog the motor pulling up the driveway. Haven't looked for the source yet.

Does J's make a DB8 sedan exhaust?
Sorry for reviving an old thread. I'm planning on doing the same for my EM1. J's Racing offers both DC2 and DB8. What's the difference between Integra coupe and sedan?
I know a DC2 muffler will bolt on and hang in the correct location, but I seen the tailpipe probably like 2-3 inches inside the rear bumper, which looks terrible.
I think (but am not positive) that the DB version is interchangeable with the Civic sedan/coupe, assuming you use the correct length catalyst. It definitely has the tailpipe length you are after.

I'm more worried about the hangers on the muffler itself. If they needed to be chopped and moved, you'll see the modification. The piping on the axle side, I don't care about. Can always be cut, extended, shortened or changed to V band.
I currently have a full custom 2.5" system going to a universal Kakimoto muffler. Sounds nice, but I want a change. Unfortunately J's doesn't sell anything universal, so I want to get whatever that can fit the EM1 best.
