fuel system update
car is a 97 Honda civic ex, D16y7 that'll be mini-me'd or swapped with a y8 since I have both a head and block, during the off season soon. Okay, so I know my fuel lines are rusted and I don't know how much life they have left before they start leaking especially going into the new winter season, but say I don't want to go OE/OEM and use AN fittings for everything instead, how would I go about using a stock fuel pump and filter but with AN connections between the engine and the fuel tank, unless I need to use a different filter and fuel pump system? I know the stock fuel pump uses a barbed connection with a plastic quick disconnect, and the fuel filter uses a flare nut fitting, but not sure the parts or steps for a conversion without possibly have leaks using off the shelf parts or from ordering things online. About the only thing I know is there's conversion kits but they have rubber hoses for the vent and return lines and I would prefer to not have something that could tear from driving in my areas since most of my roads are either dirt or have some serious pot holes going on; I live in Michigan. I've thought about just routing everything inside of the vehicle, but I don't want the potential fire hazard since I don't know the necessary precautions for keeping things safe otherwise. the car needs a lot of maintenance done that's overdue, but I'd prefer to start with the fuel delivery since that's been neglected the longest, even though the fuel system seems to be working normally anyway, but while I'm there replacing rusted lines, might as well do everything I can to bullet proof/improve it.
An OEM style fuel line would be far more reliable and safe than -AN lines, not to mention more cost effective. That's what I would suggest.
If you're still dead set on it, they do make barb to -AN adapter fittings. However you must keep in mind that every fitting you use is another potential source for a leak.

Had A similar setup on My Kswaped hatch. You can still use these lines to replace the OEM fuel line.
