Default 2001 Honda civic ex wont shift past reverse? please help!

Hello, I have a 2001 honda civic EX that is my daughter's daily driver. the other day she drove to school just fine and parked it, a few hours later she got into it started it and it would only go into reverse. I went and took the center console out and pushed the little shift release button and it still wouldn't move past reverse. I then unbolted the shift cable from the shift lever and I couldn't pull it to drive either ( Im not sure this would work anyway) . That being said the car drove fine beforehand and will drive in reverse as well but for some reason will not go into neutral or the drive gears? Does anyone know what this might be? could it be an easy fix? Please help ! Thank you

UPDATE!! It is fixed , the bolt that bolts the shifter cable to the tranny was backed out and blocking it from shifting lol
