Default 1.8 takes forever to idle

I recently acquired a 88 accord 1.8 automatic.....and it takes the car forever to warm up and idle.....it surges constantly up and down, occasionally cutting off, and I have to crank it right back....I haven't seen any vacuum leaks or cracked hoses.....carb was new last year.....it's been parked 6months.....any suggestions where to start....once it gets to the place where it will idle, it's fine....but it takes 10/15min
thanks in advance

Replace every vacuum line you can, it's cheap. Brake booster is often the culprit too.

Next question, I pulled the drivers side seat out to access the ecm so I could pull codes by turning key on and watching light....but apparently the ecm has been replaced before and no led light that flashes....is their any other way to pull codes.....this idle issues is driving me nuts
thanks
