Okay, so I have a 93 del sol, and its had a b18b swapped from a 97 integra, its a manual and is throwing a code with the wrong automatic ecu...
So I bought the correct ecu for the engine thinking the person who did the swap changed the harness over from obd1 to the integra obd2a...
however that wasn't the case, so now I have an obd2a ecu I need, but stuck with obd1 harness connectors.
I find a bunch of adapters, but only one that goes obd1 to obd2ecu... and its over $100
Is that my best option, or should I be looking to swap harnesses? Im trying to get this thing to pass California smog and the previous owner didn't do the swap right...
No, you buy a manual 94-95 Integra p75 ecu. Not going to pass smog until you take the car to the state ref for the engine swap.
This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
There are sensors/devices that the OBD-2A ECU will be looking for that do not exist in your OBD-1 car, so you will have a CEL for codes that you cannot defeat... at least not easily. The adapter harness is just throwing good $$$ after bad. Get an OBD-1 manual P74/75 ECU and plug it right into your car.
Okay thank you all for the replies, I was going with obd2 because the engine is a 97 and I thought a 97 integra was obd2, and the state ref would need that...
but the harness was still the 93 del sol...
Unless the ref is going to make me change the harness, go to obd2 ecu, and add sensors that arent there??
hopefully not, it might be wise to get to the ref before buying anything else...
You're going to ref it as a 94-95 Integra. Forget about obd2 and just plug in the del sol harness. You'll probably have a difference at the injectors and distributor but you'll figure that out after you get the right ecu.

Yes obviously but remember he needs to get past ca state ref. P74 is an obscure ecu and more than likely not on the list of approved parts.

So the vin on the engine block, pulling up as 97 won't be an issue??
That's something you're going to have to talk to the ref about. They all have a different answer and you're going to have to do some research and figure out what parts you'll need.

I thought you were suggesting that there was no such thing as a P74... and I am pretty sure that I have a few of them in my pile. So I suggested finding a P74 or P75... and you are suggesting to look for a P75 because the P74's are really hard to find, right ?
If it's infact a usdm ecu it might pass but honestly I've never even seen one in CA in 20 years of junkyarding and couldn't find any reputable info about them online. I wouldn't take the risk with how strict the ref is either.
