Default is it dangerous? how much?

I'll just post a couple of picture. I went to check because of some vibration on the steering wheel, which after the chance of the tyres disappeared. But what about those arms? Can I get by with them?
Those are front wheels of an honda accord 1990.

thanks

Tie rod ends. They are part of the steering. I would not have thought that they would cause any vibration in the steering wheel, but if there is any slop/play in the joint, they would eventually fall off and your wheel will turn sideways while going down the road, so yes, it is a safety and drive ability item.

No slop in the joint, but torn boots will allow for dirt ingestion and wear the joint out faster.

Decent ones start at about +$25/each. If you screw the new ones in to the exact position of the old ones, your alignment will be very close. The car should be aligned after replacement to ensure that it drives straight on slick roads and to prevent tire ware. Labor cost? I have no idea, it is a fairly easy job + alignment.

How do I assess if there is any slop/play in the joint? The steering is not very bad, apart some times when the angles is really steep (but nothing incredible).

Apart from that, if I understand correctly, I just need to replace the part in the joints, not all the arms, rights?

The joint is built onto the 8' arm. It disconnects at the nut coming off the rack and pinion.

If they are really bad, you can just grab them with your hands and feel for flay.
If there is tension on them or they are just starting to get warn, you can use a long screwdriver or short pry-bar, pushing off of other parts of the suspension to see if there is any play. A little play can be considered a lot.

It is a fairly an easy job you can do it yourself with basic tools. You need a 17 or 19mm open end wrench and a vice grip. Since you are replacing the bolt as well you can use a hammer or pry bar to pop it out after you loosen the bolt on the bottom.

It is fairly cheap as well under $30. I used the Moog brand. If one side is going out I would replace the other side as well since you are going to need an alignment afterwards.

Search " outter tie rod Honda Accord" on YouTube to see how they do it .
All year should be the same.

Hi,
do you think I can order and be sure I get the rigth parts? By the way, I am based in europe (malta), so the shipping might be a bit expensive

Btw, what do I have to buy?
A front left a front right and two front inner (I selected quick steer)?
They are cheap, while the shipping is around 40euro.

SInce I am ordering, I think I will also get air and fuel filters, a thermostat (you never know) and new carpets. What can I order in addition that I will surely need in a while?

How is amazon when ordering parts in Europe? In the US, there are A LOT of parts that you can get for just as cheap as rockauto and a lot easier to return than rockauto.

I use rockauto to check for parts number along with price. Just to be on the safe side, I also cross check the manufacture's website to see if the parts number match up with my make/model. If they are good, I than check amazon to see if they are cheaper. I don't use the "parts fit my car" feature I just search for the exact parts number.

If you are in europe why not look up autodoc? You will have much less shipping charges and parts are located within the EU.

You can maybe get sankei 555 which is MUCH better than quicksteer or any other generic part.

You can also find the 555 parts on www.partsouq.com or Amayama.com
