Hello all... I am Scott & have owned a used 1982 civic GL and now on to me SECOND Honda, bought new. In October 1990. About 253,00 miles, swapped engine for a "newer" 1992 civic vtech 1.6 L. Now 32 years later, still runs well to great. Current mileage is around 348,000 miles. I bought a 1990 Haynes manual & have referenced it on several issues to explain to a mechanic the issue.

I just recently decided to try adjusting my idle. At first I thought "just tighten the throttle cable" it seemed logical. Then i started to have that blasted "low, shaky, almost / or stalling". Thought adjust cable again ( nope ).

A couple days ago I decided to try & adjust my idle. 'Eh worked sorta, so I tinkered again based on a web search post here. Got 3 fan cycles, unplugged ICV (P2), then went about adjusting.

It was hard to turn screw to left ( counter clockwise ). Finally got it to turn & adjusted idle by car tac to a "tick" above the 750 line. Turned car off, reattached ICV & pulled 10 amp hazard fuse for about 20-30 seconds.

Success, for a non trained mechanic.

ps.... I did this idle adjustment to prepare for the mid-west winter cold, cold 🥶 temps.
