Guys been searching threads and can't seem to find any info on my odometer mileage number not lighting up. It's an old car I bought not working and just now got it running. Speedometer and all dash instrument light are working but can't read any mileage. Would that possible be because of bad cluster bulb or possible something to do with me changing over to a used ecm. thanks.

 

Update as to what I found. Pulled the cluster to check out how many bulbs were out and mine did not look like any of those on the u tube vids. I have an EX and there were no bulbs available to change. I pulled the back cover and that just got me to a huge circuit board, but no bulbs. Pulled the front clear lens plate and then black surround down to gauge face and not able to find any bulbs. Found fairly in good shape cluster from another 04 EX and swapped it in. Wolah, dash lit up including odometer milage. Since I never saw my original one lit I do not know if those miles are for my car or the car that the cluster came from. Any body know?

 

Miles should stay with the cluster on those. So you would be displaying the mileage from the donor car. May not hurt if anyone else chimed in to confirm.

Correct odometer is stored in the gauge cluster. You could swap the eeprom or export the data and write it to the new to you cluster. Or just not worry about it on a 20 year old car.

 

Thanks Guys, that was my guess. Donor cluster showing 240k and that's fine, glad its showing, just wish I knew the actual miles on the current engine. Seems when I shined a light on the old one I thought I saw 183 k before I pulled it, but it was not lighted.
