Default 1998 Accord 3.0 V6 Transmission Question

I am looking for a transmission for my car. It is a 1998 Accord Sedan(4 door) 3.0 V6 Automatic. I know the 1998 -2002 is the same generation but will any auto transmission from a 1998 - 2002 fit ? If not, how do I know which one's will fit ? I ask because I found one on eBay for a 00-02 Accord 3.0 V6 and they told me it will not work in my 1998. Thanks all.

the 2000-2002 does list a later revision coded into the OE part number (20021-P7X-A51 vs 20021P7X-A00) but these are both B7XA. The newer ones fixed some of the failure modes of the earlier ones. I am pretty certain they are plug and play, and compatible with your '98.

Thank you for your reply. So basically Honda fixed some of the issues that the 1998 and 1999 transmissions had so it is branded as a different part number even though it is the same transmission. ?
