Default Cam Holder Oil Oriface O-Rings

Got an 01 Base 5spd with h22a4, had to pull the head and as you know cams had to come out. Do the #19 O-Rings go ON the orifaces like around the body of them? Like they wouldnt be visible with the orifaces installed? Or do they go between the cam holders/caps & head? I might have put my whole motor back together without them.

Also wondering about #11 in bottom picture, same thing, where exactly does the o-ring go??

#19 they go on the tubes themselves. There are little recesses for them.

#11 there is a recess for as well. Goes between the head casting and cam cap itself. I have seen a lot of JDM engines completely omit this o-ring but I always install one just to be safe. That passage supplies high pressure oil to the rails.

Also you don't need Honda specific o-rings for those. Just buy a big universal assortment for like $25 and it will last you a long time.

So chances are the 2 #19 o-rings are still on the orifaces? I never attempted to remove the o-rings or orifaces for that matter. & #11 goes, like lays, on the head or sits in a small groove then the center cam cap goes on? and I could potentially run it without it? I dont remember seeing it is the thing, #11. I know I made note of the center oriface but cant remember if the o-ring was there (I dove into this with experience and some confidence and memory but no service manual untill later)

#19s should be fine if you haven't messed with them. #11 like I said there is a recess for it, and I have seen some engines omit it entirely so Honda must have decided at some point that it's not required.

Ok, great man, thank you, I needed a solid reply and in time. Kinda hard finding someone with deeper experience on our cars to be honest. Again, thanks saves me from taking my car apart, I was sweatin it after seeing the blow apart illustration having 3 o-rings I knew nothing about.

Do you think #11 o-ring would come loose or dislodged just from removing the cam cap? I mean do you know how likely it would be or do you have experience with how well it stays put in the recess by just removing the cap and putting it back on? Basically trying to just get an idea of if its in there or not.

I doubt it. They can be a little tricky to get in perfectly but once they're in and compressed they usually stay put even if you take the cap back off. There's really nowhere for it to go anyway. If it falls into the head it will just stay where it lands or eventually end up in the pick up tube screen.
