Default Cold Start Issue -91 Si

I have an odd cold start issue with my ‘91 Si.

This car has always started, cold or hot, practically like throwing a switch. Turn the key and it’s running after maybe two revolutions- that quick. That all stopped a week or so ago immediately after I did the 15K service. It still starts that way when warm, but now when it’s cold it takes three or four seconds of cranking. And when it does start it seems like it comes on-line one cylinder at a time.

The only things that were changed during the service that I think could have affected this were the spark plugs and the fuel filter. I checked the valves but didn’t have to adjust anything. So could spark plugs cause this effect? I was unable to find the called for NGK’s for sip or reason but did get some NGK’s of the right heat range BUT they are fine-wire electrodes.

Could those be causing this issue? So far it’s merely annoying, but I’m concerned for what might happen after the weather turns colder. I should mention that once past the cold start issue it runs great under all loads and revs. I have done a lot of 15K maintenance on this car (320K miles) and never run into this issue before.
