Default Burnt P28 Repair

Hello, guys!
Recently my P28 has suddenly gone. I've read some topics here about Q31 and transistor, but I'm not sure what have burned my ECU, since it runs stock and i've not made any swap. The engine was completely rebuilt about 10 months ago but i've never noticed any problems since that.

My question is: how do I know if a put a new one, it won't burn too?

Also, do you guys know if it's possible to repair this ECU?

Thanks!
Alex

That board took a serious hit. I don't think it's easily repairable. The heat looks to be under the capacitor not the q31 transistor. Also usually when the transistor like that blows there is a hole in the plastic casing. While those electrolytic capacitors can blow their load straight down on the board.

The board got so hot it literally peeled the trace up from the bottom of the board. You would need to do more than just replace the capcitor and any close components. You would have to rebuild the board traces that have been broken/melted away.

That's probably a total loss. Looks like the electrolytic capacitor leaked, caused a short, and then burned.
