Default What ecu to use for d16y7/8 mini me

I'm currently working on doing a mini me swap in my 1996 civic hatch. I have the motor built up ready to drop in hopefully this weekend but I've heard a lot of different stuff on the ECU side of things. I heard for obd1 use p28 and obd2 use p2p. I was kind of just wondering if I can use my stock ecu and wire vtec up to a switch, I just gotta stay cheap and need it running for winter as it's getting cold again lol and my motor is on it's way out. Marketplace near me doesn't have any p2p either and I don't know how common they are if I could just go pull one from the junk yard or not. Just need some advice before I drop the motor in
