So I'm not bad mouthing the company, I won't mention their name. I just want to advise those that are trying to do rebuilds with discontinued OEM parts.
I purchased a N.O.S. 15110-PR4-AO3 oil pump from ICB motorsports last week, it arrived quickly. I know these can still be purchased from other Honda/ Acura sites but they couldn't guarantee how quickly I would get it, or shipping was outrageous. The company has many positive reviews, is reccomended on this site for hard to find parts and accessories.
As soon as I opened the box ( I still haven't opened the pink bag from honda) I noticed what looked like rubber oil seal on the impeller/ rotor/gerotor. It was thick scaly rust. Rotor doesn't seem to want to turn easily, and I assume it is not safe to use. As of right now, ICB motorsports quit returning my calls and emails, they are going to look in the morning (for 5 business days). At this point I'm reusing my old pump, or the best from the parts hoard, LoL.
I'm hoping ICB motorsports still has some presence on here, and is willing to make it right
Sorry about the crappy pics through the plastic bag
* EDIT- The gentleman from ICB just called me and said it's normal, and even though it's in a bag it looks like I installed it already

What the hell is the point of this thread if you're not going to name what company sent/manufactured the part?
You owe them nothing, they're costing you time and money and being a PITA - It's not like you're committing some egregious crime by mentioning the problem here. Name them, topic is completely worthless otherwise.
"I'm hoping ______ still has some presence on here, and is willing to make it right".
It was a quote from my post.
I'm not looking for a fight, sorry if I offended you chance.
Nor do I have any intention of harming a fellow small business. I was trying to light a fire under the companies butt to make it right.
I'm attempting to make it to classic hondas on the dragon, and pissing them off by naming them now would be detrimental to my cause.
Just had a 10 minute argument with ICB motorsports. So the point of the post is now a question, do all older oil pumps, even direct from honda look like this? Would you use this pump?
I'd be really curious to see the pump outside the bag, or even better a video of you trying to turn the gear.
I don't like the rust, if the intention is to put in a good/new oil pump I wouldn't use it. That being said I've always bought new pumps so I'm not sure what's "normal" or acceptable for your case with NOS.
It's supposed to be a brand New Old Stock, NOS, honda part, still in the honda box and a pink bag. So far I've been offered a partial refund if I return it. Cars are pain.
Is it actually rust or just discoloration ? Remember that the location pictured is a place that simply slides over the snout of the crankshaft and doesn't move or rub against any other metal components. If you open up the pump and inspect the gear set, and there is no rust/discoloration inside, I would close it up and run it.
