2000 Accord 2.3L couple 5MT
The car has about 198k on it. I know the rear motor mount needs to be replace. The other 3, I was told it has been replaced but I am unsure when it got done. Overall the car is in great shape and runs great. I am just going to buy all 4 and replace them at the same time.
Every How to video that I've seen is for the AT. The mount is different between auto and manual but is the process still the same? Do I just support the engine and go at it form the top or do I have to go form the bottom?
Re: Need to replace rear motor mount 2000 Accord MT
It will be the same process even with a manual transmission.
I replaced my rear motor mount last year while I was swapping in a new transmission and replacing the rear main seal, so I already had the intermediate shaft out of the way as well as the header and the rear engine bracket. After going through all of that, I'd have to say that removing the upper portion of the intake manifold and going through the top would probably be a easier method. Even will all of the room that I had underneath of the car, I still had a hell of a time removing the old motor mount. There wasn't enough room to get my high torque impact in there, and my smaller mid torque impact didn't have enough to break loose the bolts holding the motor mount to the subframe. I ended up going at it from the top with extra long socket extensions and a 24" breaker bar.
My car spent the first 10 years of it's life in the rust belt, so you may not have as much trouble with rusty bolts.

Finally got this little booger out. Seems a little bit warned out.
I went through the top, had to remove the throttle body but didn't have to remove the intake manifold.
Took me a while, about 5 hours to do. The hardest part was getting the top bolt on the bracket off because you had no leverage to remove it. The whole time it was working in a tight space. But if I had to do it again, I think I can do it within 90 min.

I know you've probably replaced these already but energy makes polyurethane inserts that fill the negative space and make these a lot more solid. Also helps keep them from going bad prematurely.
