2002 Civic SI (hatchback) transmission leak
My car has 350,000 miles. I never had any problems with the transmission. I changed the clutch only once at 300,000 miles. Recently the transmission started leaking fluid. It is not a small leak. I drive the car few miles only after topping off the transmission fluid. It is difficult for me to think that there is something seriously wrong with transmission, because it still shifts gears so nicely. What could be the reason for the fluid leak?
Thanks
Thanks
Where is it leaking? Post pictures.
Are you sure it isn't engine oil? Rear mains always leak after doing a high milage clutch. Always. Because they know how much labor it is to replace it after just being in there for a clutch.

Thanks for your reply. It has been confirmed that transmission fluid is leaking. Almost two quarts of fluid were necessary to fill the transmission. So it is not a small leak. It is a little complicated for me to raise the car to take photos at this time, but I can tell you that it is difficult to determine the exact location of the leak. When the engine is off, it does not leak, but it definitely leaks when I drive.
Could be the input shaft seal. It's installed from the inside of the transmission. Needs a full disassembly to replace the seal.
And that seal leaks transmission fluid right into the clutch. Gonna need another need clutch too.

Thanks for the tip. I hope that is something simpler, though!
