Please Help with Matching a Stock Honda Civic Color
Hi,
I have a bit of an unusual request. I recently purchased a rather unique car that was truly a labor of love for the gentleman that built it 30 something years ago. He unfortunately isn't with us anymore, so I can't seek advice from him. The car is a custom, one off vehicle that is registered as a 1953 Damilla. It was built to resemble a European race car from the 1950's, although it was fabricated sometime in the 1990's. I've attached an image of it, and here some links describing the car:
It says in a magazine article about the build that the exterior hue is a stock Honda Civic color and I hoped you all might be able to identify what it is. My plan is to 'freshen up' the car a bit, and a respray is in order. From what I can surmise, it must be a stock Honda color that was available on a Civic from anytime during the 1990's. I figured you all are Honda aficionados
should be able to ID the color fairly easily. I truly appreciate any help and guidance you can provide.

Someone here can probably identify that color, otherwise you may even be able to show a few photos to a (good) paint shop and they may be able to compare and infer what it was.
Re: Please Help with Matching a Stock Honda Civic Color
bring it to a body shop that has the color match camera.
we use the ppg camera for those off colors or customer color cars that come through here.
the camera will direct us in the right direction with the base color and toners to mix in.
from that point, we fine tune and add additional tints to match as best as we can

I'm really suprised that someone didn't chime in with the correct name of the color. Obviously I can bring it to a body shop and have it scanned, but the car has the motor currently out of it, and I just wanted to order some touchup paint for now. Oh well.

IF the paint on that car was in fact a "Factory Honda Color", the paint system will tell you that when you scan the surface with a camera. I am unaware of any 1990+ Honda with a similar color to what you have... it must be older.

Someone was nice enough to contact me directly with the info. They believe it is most probable Opal Green metallic. (G73M). It was used from 1991 to 1995. Here is a pic of a car with it. It looks close, but I'll have to order some paint chip samples first to confirm. Thanks everyone.

The lighting in both photos is substantially different so that could be the reason.
This is an extremely rare time where it may be better to ask a woman lol. They're better about picking up on subtle color differences.
Also not that it matters, but for clarification on my first post I actually meant you could even try taking a PHOTO of the car, if it was a good and clear shot, to a body shop and they could still ballpark the color for you without the car physically being there. At least enough for you to then know "Ok, it should be (x) Honda color from this year range."

since you already know that you can go to a body shop, how about you remove a panel, and bring it to the body shop then?
there are so many variances for a color code that whatever you buy as "touch up paint", will be off.
get it matched, and pay to have them mix you the amount you need.
