Default 1999 Black EM1 VTi (UK). Previous owner modifications

Hello,

Massive long shot, but I'm on the hunt for old photos, videos, or information about my car I purchased approx 3 years ago now. It has a semi-interesting history, and I'd like to know more about it. The service receipts I have with the car date back approx 7 years - any history before this is lost.

I ask this because I'm aware my car has been fairly modified previously. The last owner did modify the car, and I bought it as such, but the owner before him was a trader who sold the car stock. Before him, approx 2005-2016, there was an owner who had the car long term, modifying it as he went, who put the car back into its stock form for resale. I'm aware that the car was lowered, fitted with red recaros (likely EK9), and had an OBD1 or an aftermarket ECU (as the original although refitted wasn't secured correctly, and I know neither of the last 2 owners touched it). This leads me to believe that the car at the very least had bolt ons. I'd love to have some photos to look at, to know more about the car and what had been done. I'd also like to know if any internal engine work has been done, as all I've had done to the car is valve clearances (although never checked cams etc for aftermarket parts). Of course, eventually I'll open everything up myself, but it's be interesting to know before is all.

It's a starlight black pearl 1999 civic coupe, an EM1 VTi fitted with the factory B16a2. The original registration was T330 MTW, although it is no longer this so I'm safe to share this info 👍.

That's pretty much it. If this thread isn't allowed, I understand and guess it will be deleted. I'm just not really sure where to post/ask about this.

Thanks.

The thread won't be deleted, you're not breaking any rules. The odds of anyone knowing the previous owner is essentially nil, however. It would help if you posted more pictures and info of your car, you've given us basically nothing to go off of us as well.

Pull a spark plug and stick a bore scope down to see if you have aftermarket pistons. You can see the rods if you pull off the oil pan. Cams obviously are easy to be seen with the valve cover off or even by peeking through when you have the oil cap off and shining a light in.

Appreciate that, to be honest I'm aware the chances are super slim. It's the sort of thread I've made just in case the previous owner decided to type their old reg in on a whim just to see where their old car is. They were obvs an enthusiast, I do it sometimes. Never know 😂

As for checking parts, I plan to have the head off at some point so I will probably just wait till then, but they are both good ideas and maybe something to do next weekend if I get the time 👍
