Bought a non running del sol 3 weeks ago. I got it started finally to find out that I might have a head gasket leak. Well today got the head off and sure enough the gasket was bad. Do I need to bore out the cylinders? D16Z6

 

Probably going to consume a fair amount of oil without rebuilding it.

 

There's no reason you'd need to bore out the cylinders just because you had a head gasket leak. With the head off check the walls for damage.

Check the head for straightness at a machine shop and/or resurface it, and put on a new headgasket.

 

Did you peep the pics? Those cylinders have seen some ****.

 

Nope, they didn't load for me the first time I pulled up this thread. Now they're there. I agree, bore out what's needed for a clean surface.

HT images has been screwing up for me lately at home. The website doesn't like my VPN and sometimes I'm connected to it.

 

Yeah, I would bore that block over a half mil (.020"). (75.50mm bore pistons)
