Default Replaced master cylinder twice and now no brakes.

88 CRX HF

- Brake fluid leaking out the back of the MC and onto the booster.
- Replaced with a new Oreilly MC and bench bled. Pedals felt just a little spongy and so in the interest of time, I took car to Les Schwab to bleed the lines at the wheels (and a needed wheel alignment)
- They called and said after bleeding that pedal went all the way to the floor. Said they 'clamped-off the lines' and pedal still went all the way to the floor, ruling out calipers, indicating bad mc.
- While not unlikely, pedal was decent before I dropped it off.... just a little spongy.
- So I just replaced with a NAPA mc, thinking better quality. Exact same problem.

What did they do to my car?

A few more observations:
- There is some braking action. The last inch of travel will cause the car to eventually stop.
- We bled the lines again at the MC w/ no change. They don't "pump up" like they normally should.

Maybe I should try and bleed them myself? I've just never seen brakes this spongy before. Not sure how they could have introduced so much air into the lines.

Probably need to adjust the pushrod in the booster and at the pedal to make sure the master is fully retracting to uncover the ports to the reservoir.

I've read that this is a PITA to adjust.

I just don't understand why the brakes worked when I dropped off the car and now they don't.

I also heard from the technician today that the rear two bleeder valves didn't open. He also said that there was no air in the fluid for the fronts.

I re-bled it at the wheels and now it brakes fine. I was able to open up the rear bleeder valves after spraying them with penetrant. More time and money wasted... and they don't eve give away free beef anymore.
