2008 CRV A/C clutch, fans won't engage/come on
The a/c worked in this car when it was purchased around 2019. I retired as a refrigeration specialist for Nestle so I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing. Facts of the case: BOTH the compressor clutch and condenser fans used to come on, but don't any more. Interior dash blower works normally. Car is topped up with refrigerant, static pressure 110 psi, pressure switch should be closing that segment of the circuit. All applicable fuses under dash and under hood confirmed good. I jumped 5 appropriate relays under the hood. Power is showing with a test light to both the coil AND supply to the relay feed contact when the car is running. I pulled both fan plugs, test light lights at the inlet side of both fans. I could not get my hands in engine bay to reach and pull the leads for the compressor or compressor overheat switch attached to it. (That overheat switch MAY be the source of the open circuit.) I'm convinced the circuit is not being completed to ground to make this all work. Any ideas? Local Honda dealer charged wife $99, said the compressor needs to be replaced @$900, which I don't believe. Possible hint: The interior lamps that should light when doors are open do not light either. Not sure if there is an association. All fuses test good under dash with a test light. Thanks in advance!
