F23a5 swapped for f23a, can't rev past 4500 rpm
Brand new to the forum, hello everyone and thank you for your help moving forward. I just swapped the f23a into my 2002 accord dx but now I can't rev past 4500 rpm. There is no check engine light and obviously the vtec solenoid is not plugged in because my harness does not have the plug. My question is should I get a 37820-PAA-A01 ecm from a f23a1 and run an overlay from the vtec solenoid to pin 12 on connector b? Not sure why the engine would rev limit with vtec disengaged. My original motor didn't have vtec so is it possible that the old ecm is confused with what it is seeing? Any help is appreciated! Thank you

It could also be fuel table related
I know a guy swapped a f22b1 (vtec) into his vehicle which came with a f18b (non vtec) but kept using the f18 ecu. It wouldnt rev past 5000 rpm, possibly because the ecu was tuned not to provide any extra fuel which the upgraded engine would need,
He swapped to the correct ecu and this was solved. It is entirely possible something similar is happening with yours. I cant tell you how to wire it up, but i suspect the right ecu might help. no one nearby you can borrow an ecu from just to diagnose?

You need the correct ECU and VTEC needs to be hooked up. You are only running on 1 intake valve per cylinder without it. The second valve gets very little lift until VTEC is engaged.
Thank you both for the insight, im going to go get the right ECU this weekend from a recker. The weird thing is my master mechanic at my shop did a similar swap but he didn't replace the computer and left the VTech solenoid unplugged. It's frustrating but I will take any advice I can get. Thank you both! I will keep y'all posted
Aradin, nobody is as broke as me in my area lol. Nah just kidding but short answer no there is nobody I can borrow one from. The local recker has a 37820 paa a01 from a manual ex of the same year so I'ma get that on Saturday. I will have to run an overlay for the VTech solenoid though.
I figured it out. What I needed. The whole time was the block off plate for the VTech solenoid off of my old engine. I'm thinking that oil pressure was being diverted to the VTech solenoid which wasn't plugged in thus causing my lack of power problem. Again, I appreciate both of your responses.
