Hey all I have a question I have this 2012 civic that we got my nephew and it’s got the dreaded P1129. I changed the map sensor with a Honda one and I went on YouTube university and it said to check the timing. I check it and reset it yesterday and I am still running a code. I took some pictures and I wanna know if I have it timed correctly? I test drove it and it still goes into the 3k rpm likp mode. I am at my wits end with this car. Next up is the 5 gallons of gas and a match method. Crank photo Cam photo
Just a followup I triple checked it and then I talked to a tech friend of mine and he asked if I had it manually relearned, turns out you either need the Honda scan tool or the Snapon scanner to do it and it's a weird thing but it works like a champ no lights no hitting that fail safe rev limiter and it works like a champ. Hopefully someone stumbles upon this thread and it helps them. Also I suggest that you replace with the Honda MAP cause it's seriously $5 more than the AutoZone one and I swear it is worth it.
I replaced my head gasket, tensioner, water pump and serpentine. The car ran for a few miles flawlessly then stumbled for a few miles and now it won’t start. The seemingly obvious thing is I put the chain on out of time. Is there something that needs to be reset after this maintenance? I’m asking before I tear it apart or take it to a mechanic. Thanks…
