Hit curb in 5th gen, car pulls but shop wants to replace ABS module??
Okay, I have a 1996 accord that is in pretty good original condition. I had sideswiped a curb (smh) going about 40mph. Prior to this car drove immaculate. Lots of highway driving, smooth as could be.. no lead or pull in any direction. Immediately after the curb hit the steering wheel was cockeyed and I was worried the car was unsafe because of how terrible it tracked down the road.
I made an appointment at my mechanic and informed them of what happened and the prior and current state of my car and asked them to go over the car thoroughly and let me know anything it needs. They performed an inspection and alignment which they thought cured the problem. I picked my car up and within a 5minute drive noticed that it was improved but still not right. It tracks down the road fine with no pull or lead but the problem is the car WILL pull to the right under hard acceleration, straighten out when off acceleration, but under braking at about 55mph the car will pull to the left, and they hook to the right when off the brakes, only to track straight after manually correcting the steering wheel.
Sorry for the book, hoping to get some insight as the shop wants to replace the ABS module which they are swearing is causing this and want $1,500-$2,000. My ABS light is and has been on but I feel that has not much to do with the issue. If this is causing a malfunction with the brakes is it possible to pull the ABS fuse or relay and stop it from interfering? Obviously Im more concerned about a bent knuckle, rack or control arm bushings, they are claiming it's non of those and the only place left to turn is the ABS module. I appreciate your guys thoughts on this
