EK B-swap battery light issue
Hi all,
I recently buttoned up my ek with b18b1 and it’s running well. Once i started it for the first time, I noticed the battery light was on. After about an hour of driving the battery died and I had to bump start it. I thought it was the alternator so i replaced it, but it was not the issue. What i’m having is a weird parasitic draw, but it’s not acting on the car when it’s off. Only when the car is on will the battery drain extremely quickly. like 10-15 minutes it’ll go from 12.5V to 9. I’m gonna go over all of the wiring that i spliced with solder material and insulate them again with electrical tape. if it’s not this, what could be causing my battery to drain rapidly when it’s on? other than the alternator, because i had it tested outside of the car and it was good.

Double check that your charging wire is connected between the alternator and the fuse box. If so, check for continuity between the two ends to make sure the wire is healthy and has no breaks.
i’m a little bit of an idiot i have to admit. when i put the new harness in I didn’t know what the white wire was so i just grounded it to the firewall, it was in fact the white wire that goes from the alternator to the fuse box. I’m gonna try starting it and i bet the battery light will go away

If you connected either end of that white wire to one of the two points that it is SUPPOSED to be connected to, you would have blown fuses in the under-hood fuse box. The white wire that is part of the engine harness connects to the alternator charging lug and the first tab of the under-hood fuse box (right next to the same sized wire that connects between the positive battery post and the under-hood fuse box).
