So I have a 99 civic with a d16y8 and had the motor mounts replaced but now when I try and start the car it won’t idle unless I hold the gas and it has some ticking noise not sure if it’s the lifters or actual rod knock. Would get a video but I’m to scared to start it again. Any suggestions on what I should do?

 

Was the water pump/timing belt replaced at the same time?

If so it sounds like the mechanical timing may be off now.

 

the head gasket was done a couple days before and it was it time and ran fine
