Wet Carpet
Have a 1995 wagon ex and it seems like the front and rear carpet is soaked. I know a little of it is from the blocked AC drain, but any idea why everything in the rear is soaked as well? It doesnt smell like coolant.
Im going to have revisit this with some exploratory surgery. It doesnt really smell like coolant, but when I came out yesterday after the car had sat, the windshield was fogged with "green condensation" I thought it might just be the water in the car, but today after I let the floor mats dry out, they were pouring green colored water out of them. The car hasnt been overheating, but it needed at least 16 ounces of water added to it. so Im wondering if there are 2 issues at hand. And from my initial research, pulling the heater core requires the dash to come out.
Oof, that really does sound like a bad heater core. Just to be sure, the floor is wet without it raining, right? I've pulled my dash before and it is a long process, just take it step by step and you will get it done. Word of caution, Every core I ordered from RockAuto had pipes bent wrong so they wouldn't fit. Autozone one fit perfectly. And always have your coolant overflow tank filled properly.
Also a good opportunity to flush out your old antifreeze and use Honda blue stuff, lasts much longer.

The rear tubes exit behind the rear wheels. You can easily access them by pulling the trunk wall panels away from the body and you can clean them without any fuss. The front ones are horribly placed. They are behind the front fenders, past the dashboard. If you want to clean them, open the sunroof and run a trail of Dawn dish soap around the perimeter so it will wash out the tubes. If that doesn't work you'll need to pull the front fender to get a pipe cleaner in there. Doable but not fun. Make sure the fluid is rainwater or coolant first.

I will check into it. On a side note, it's been raining and does not seem like the carpet is excessively wet. Also I have a wagon, so no trunk panels to pop
So nothing appears to be leaking from the rear drains. I have removed the carpet from the car and do not see anything pooling at least at this time. It doesnt smell like coolant. The only thing I can tell at this point in time is that the "rubber insulator pad" behind the pedals is soaked at least on the drivers side. Can anyone tell me if this piece is removable by itself or do I have to pull the entire dashboard to get it out and see where things are leaking. Technically at this time Im almost half way to pulling out the entire heaterbox as the center console and radio area are already dismantled
