Default Aftermarket headlight assemblies

I am looking for replacement headlight assemblies (33100-SH3-A05 & 33150-SH3-A05) for my 1990 Civic Si. Unfortunately they are no longer available new from Honda. I got a pair from a junkyard but they have corrosion on the reflectors. I took them apart and priced getting them re-chromed that seemed a bit expensive and not guaranteed, so I am forced to consider aftermarket parts. I would like them to be as close to stock OEM as possible. I see them available on eBay, Amazon and Rockauto. I could probably even get them from the local parts store. The prices are somewhere between $100 and $200 each. In most cases there is no obvious way to determine who the manufacturer is or even how many different manufacturers there are. Of course the parts all look the same but the pictures provided do not always enable me to see them with enough detail to pick out differences. None of the sellers on eBay seems to name the manufacturer. I can't tell from the description if the aftermarket parts have glass lenses like the OEM parts. Some also seem to use a different method to secure the bulb in the housing so I suspect they are designed for different bulbs. Are the OEM bulbs halogen? The descriptions often mention halogen bulbs and some of them even say they come with bulbs which I thought was odd. If you have any experience, recommendations or advice I would love to hear it. Thanks.

I asked several sellers on ebay if the lenses were glass. I already got my first responses. The seller stated that he didn't know, so I guess he would just order them from someone else when I order them from him. The next three sellers said they were plastic.

Did you ever find out? Rockauto has some listed right now for 1990-1991 Civics. I bought some from them a couple years ago for my '89, but looks like they don't have those anymore. They were glass.
I almost suspect that the eBay sellers might not even have their hands on the actual product and are guessing as to what material it is made of. PartsGeek has some too for 90-91.

I couldn't believe my luck, when I found an entire brand new OEM drivers side headlight assembly on Craigslist a week ago. I almost didn't believe it. Just $75 plus shipping. I suspect I will never find a matching one for the passenger side. It looks good just sitting on the shelf like a piece of art. I do sort of like the ones from Classiceuroparts. I wonder about how much you would need to alter the wire harness to make those work. I am trying to keep my car stock so those headlights and the wire harness modifications would both be counter to that goal. But thanks for the link, I think they would actually be a really nice upgrade for most people.

I have TYCs from eBay. Quality and fitment was just like OEM and both lenses were glass. Also include bulbs. Be aware the brackets around are different for 88-89 vs 90-91. If you find a cheap one from the wrong year on eBay like I did, you can swap your old brackets easily.

I've had them for probably 6 to 8 years and they still look great. Glass lenses definitely last.

Personally I recommend putting that new OEM one in your treasure chest, and get a pair of cheap TYCs to run on the car. The OEM/Stanley headlight is worth bank in new condition.

I don't see any TYC headlights for 90-91 anywhere on the internet, are you sure they exist. I see them for 92+

Well they were available at one time. Dang sorry man. Here are the part numbers from the glass. Might help you search.

BTW the DEPO brand on rockauto is usually comparable to TYC. There is a good chance they are made of glass too.

Depo are clearly marked composite on rockauto.

Composite Headlights: All of today's headlights are composite headlights. Whereas sealed beam headlights are all one-piece, composite headlights consist of multiple pieces that you can disassemble. When a sealed beam headlight bulb fails, you have to replace the entire assembly. When a composite headlight bulb fails, you can replace just the bulb. Still, in addition to aesthetics, sealed beam headlights appeal to auto enthusiasts because their hermetic sealing makes them completely impervious to Freeman, SD weather, debris, and wear
I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just not sure "composite" necessarily means all plastic. Sounds like it really means multi-piece with replaceable individual bulbs which was a new concept when the 2nd gen CRX came out.

I can confirm that the Depo brand headlights do have glass lenses. They entire assembly is very similar to the OEM with a few noticeable differences on the back side.

Excellent. Let us know how they fit. Hopefully people can still find this in the future now that search engines are trash (Honda-Tech's still works well though).

I assume they would fit just fine but I sent them back because the way the bulbs attach to the housing was different and I need everything to look OEM. Based on pictures I found online I think the TYC headlights would be a closer match but I think they are no longer available. I will keep the existing OEM lights for now. The corroded reflectors make them a bit dim but because it is primarily a car show car I don't drive much at night anyway. I was actually considering the possibility of swapping out the aftermarket lenses for the OEM lenses even if I could get a TYC unit. I'm also looking for a set of the original 14" steelies because those Si wheels are pretty obviously not the original wheels.
