Misfire on clyinder 4 after head gasket
I’m working on my friends 2005 Honda and did the head gasket after it blew. I had a hard time getting the timing belt right and once I started the car I have a misfire on cylinder 4 only. I checked most of the basic things that would cause the issue.
if the timing belt is off one tooth would that cause the issue or would all cylinders be misfiring?
im planning on doing a compression test to try to check if it would be the timing belt before taking everything apart.
any help or advice would be much appreciated thank you.

I would think it would run rough off by one tooth . The only sure way to tell is pull the cover and check the marks , I guess you slipped the belt off the cam gear to remove the head . Swap coil towers and see if the code changes
The first thing I did was swap coil packs to see if it would change the misfire code, then I put a screw driver in the coil for the hell of it just to watch the spark arc to the head and it was normal.
I also did a compression test on the 4 cylinders and they were pretty much exactly the same.
I tried to do the basic stuff before I got into pulling stuff apart.. it’s just really strange besides the cylinder 4 misfire the engine sounds really good.

Cool thank you for the reply, that was the next thing I was going to check before taking off all the stuff for the valve cover and looking at the timing marks.
it’s just strange though I would think if the timing was off the compression test would have been off as well.
hopefully it’s a plug on the injection that’s not plugged in all the way or clogged like you said.
