Icon6 Undead ECU! (P28-A02) 1993 Del Sol

Doing a head swap on my 1993 Del Sol (d15b7 to d16z6).Pulled the ECU and this is what it looked like, it ran with this in. i don't know much about ECUs any idea of how bad this actually is? Should I keep looking for a replacment? it's a P28-A02.ECU

That ECU has been sunk in water before... and for some time at that. It is a MIRACLE that it even functions at this point. You could run it until it dies... but you better find a replacement as soon as you can because the availability of functioning P28's is becoming increasingly uncommon.

Thanks for the info! I don't know how this was able to run. The only reason i ask if i should keep running it is because i'm having a hard time finding a replacement.

You can remove the board from the case it’s just four screws and use isopropyl try to get 90% and a soft brush and clean the main board gently. If it was running it should be fine. I would get the rust off the case too. The board actually looks fine. Let it dry for a day and steel wool on the case. I would buy that ecu.

Can the OP send it in for rebuild/capacitor replacement service?

I'd send these pictures to Phearable and HAmotorsport and see what they say.

I think within the next few years it's going to come close to being almost as expensive to get a refurbished/good condition OEM ECU as some of the cheaper standalones.

No problem post update picss . I don’t see a reason to get the caps replaced they look fine and he said they function and it’s Japanese which is best. Just be real careful not to bend or put stress on anything.
