Engine swap EJ9 questions
Hello guys , I have a stock ej9 (honda civic ek chassi) with a d14a4 engine and the engine is slowly dying , so I am looking at my options , wanted a bit more kick.
Its my day to day car with ice cold a/c and such. Also has lpg which works lovely.
I don't have any power goals in mind , just more kick than the stock d14a4 , wanted to do n/a around 200hp.
My thought was to either try and do b series swap which would be easier but its hard to find any good motors left , that even can take fixing (b16 heads are usually really messed up).
Second thought was to do a high compression d14a4 , either vtec or non vtec with itbs and maybe reach that power goal (9-10k rpm)
Third thought which is kinda stuck on my head is to do a k-swap but here I have a lot of questions.
I can find in a decent price , a full k swap from an ep3 , meaning , engine / transmission / axles / harness / ecu (with intake , etc...)
My first question is , if I have a complete engine , transmission , axles , harness + ecu , the only thing that will I need is the engine mounts + shifter linkages + shifter itself?
Second question is , can I keep the a/c without no problems , or what parts will I need for that and such?
Any other tips , opinions are always welcome.
Obviously pricing will matter , so it depends how much I can find either b series / k series or to build the d14.
But I would like your input , d14 seems the simplest and the easiest way to go and was told that even with high compression wont have any issues with the lpg for normal driving (under 3k) (long trips / city)
B series , would be decent again , b20vtec or something similar if I manage to find any good heads
But I am not sure what I need for b/k series swap.
