'98 Accord LX front driver CV joint?
Hi.
I recently had a front brake job done by a trusted friend/ mechanic. He noticed the passenger CV boot was leaking grease. Took to a garage, Needed a new (re-manufactured) front axle.
Cost was $506. All's been fine for a couple weeks since, but got car washed this past Friday, 7/21 and noticed quite a bit of fluid has sort of blasted out onto the tire and hubcap. Also noticed both front wheels lugs were *very hot to the touch. Major heatwave here... Stopped by another garage owned by friends. He said the water from the car wash must've sent this fluid out onto the outside of the tire. Today, I turned the wheels and the CV boot rubber area looked fine.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was brake fluid. No further leaking or dripping since. Car has 122K miles. It was my mom's and spent most of it's life in a garage in bone-dry Las Vegas, now in Alabama.
Keeping an eye on it for now, just curious what any of you pros think.Hoping for many more miles out of 'Old Bessie'. In amazing shape for a 25 yr old car!
Thanks.

I didn't know that was the master cylinder (not a car guy), but it is full. I've turned the wheel and looked at the CV boot rubber gasket, no fluid. Very odd how much blasted out onto the outer tire after going thru the car wash.
Thanks for replying, Kevin!

Good to hear the brake fluid is OK and the brakes are working as expected (I assume). If it was somehow compromised, that would be a dicey situation, especially since moisture from water is not a good thing for brake fluid.
Yes, brakes are fine since new brake job and front axle job, except for this dispersal of fluid, once, *after a car wash... far as I can tell, the CV joint did not burst grease, looks dry. *I assume new CV joints come with a re-manufactured front axle?
Might have to get the guy who did the brake job to come look. Thanks a lot!
