2005 SiR 2 door hatchback window regulator issues - could use some guidance
I have a 2005 SiR 2 door hatchback. LHD in Canada. I understand that this is a model that shipped only to Canada and parts of Europe (correct me if I'm wrong). Therein lies the problem.
My LH window regulator failed and I'm having a lot of trouble sourcing the correct replacement. The only coupe specific regulator I could find has a 4 pin harness whereas my original regulator has 6 pins. I thought I'd be creative and tried to splice the 6 pin harness to the new regulator on the assumption that the extra two wires were power and ground. I tested it and I'm pretty sure I fried my window switch. So I'm back to square one.
First question is - what's with the 6 pins? What do the extra two wires do? Why would a non-SiR coupe have 4 pins and the SiR have 6?
Secondly, has anyone tried separating the mechanical regulator from the motor? If I could just replace the mechanical parts, then I could just use the old motor and harness.
I'm probably going to have a tonne of follow-up questions so I hope you folks are patient.
Thanks.

interesting ... I have the exact same problem. I joined this Forum in effort to find data on the power window system in the 7th Gen SI. I wish I could contribute to the solution. The only info I could provide is the Honda OEM part number for the window regulator / motor assy. It is 72250-S5S-G11. I found it for sale online for $225 plus tax and shipping. All the non-honda ones (e.g. Doorman) do not have the 6 wire plug. And the wiring diagram I have only shows 4 wires, yet the actual unit I removed from the car has 6 wires, like yours (see attached photo). Also, mine the mechanical cable broke. so all I really need to do is replace the cable ... but the where the cable goes into the gearbox is not accessible.

I called my local dealer, asked for the Parts department, then got re-directed to a call center (sounded like India) where they wanted a ton of personal information. After 5 minutes difficult to understand English, I gave up.
