Default No throttle response

My car starts fine and when you press the pedal it revs up perfect and the throttle response is perfect but when you put it in reverse or any drives it acts like you're not pressing the gas pedal down. But if you Jack the front of the car up and started and put it in reverse or drive and hit the gas the wheels will spin what would cause this issue. Any help is appreciated I've been trying to get this fixed for my son for 6 months now.

the axle might have just popped out, look on the trans side and see if the axle is in all the way in the trans.

Thanks for the idea but maybe I should have said all that people have tried to get it working. First off the head gasket was bad so replaced head gasket, headbolts, exhaust and intake gaskets, water pump, thermostat and housing. Then about a month later it started making a really loud rattle/ clanking noise. So they replaced the block. Then they said that one of the rods broke. They replaced that. Then it would start up but after about driving a block it stopped wanting to move. Found out the tranny line was leaking. fixed that. .Then I was told that it needed a crankshaft position sensor. So I replaced that.So as of right now It starts up and the rpm goes up if i hit the gas and down when i stop. the throttle response is actually pretty perfect. That is in Park or neutral. But when I put it in drive or reverse it wont go anywhere. If i jack the front up and hit the gas the tires move but on the ground wont move.

Has it been the same shop working on the car this whole time?

I don't know anything about automatics but if the engine won't rev at all when the car is on the ground and in drive, then I'd suspect an electrical issue somewhere.

sounds like the gears for the transmission are messed up when under a load

because if you Jack it up, it relieves the pressure on the transmission and the axle

or it’s the torque converter not transferring power

What would stop 1998 civic automatic from getting power to wheels. Replaced with a good transmission and torque converter, new fluid also. When put in drive or reverse it's like the brakes is on or something is holding it in place. Won't go anywhere

sounds like something might be too tight or not transferring power

i haven’t had the pleasure of removing mine yet so the technical procedure I’m not too familiar

but diagnostically sounds like something is caught up

have you tried lifting it and putting it through its gears?

Maybe a nut is off set on the flywheel and it’s causing friction

try lifting and seeing if you can spin the front wheels easily?

Maybe the brake seized up coincidentally

I have checked the fuel pressure regulator, Would a bad O2 sensor make the car not move in drive or reverse?

I’ve been researching taking apart my tranni and rebuilding it and all that

and if they did a plug and play with a new one it should work just fine

but I have been reading and watching vids and I’ve notice if they did a rebuild and the clearance of the shaft wasn’t set correctly it could not function properly but I’m watching manual transmission not automatic so idk
