2010 Civic drivetrain noise getting louder
2010 LX 125k miles Second owner, first owner said no major work other than complete front brake job with new rotors before I purchased it. I put in front pads later, didn't turn rotors. Sound is like a loud spinning growl. No grinding ever. Coming from driver's side front wheel area. Slowly getting worse. Can't be heard noticeably until 35-40 mph and gets louder with increasing speed. Not in engine or most of the transmission anyway. What's new is that turns affect it now, almost completely goes away on right turns, gets louder on left turns. Stays steady when going straight. Bumps also affect the noise. I want to say more weight on that corner makes it louder, but don't hit enough bumps to say for sure. I jacked it up and spun the wheel in neutral. No grinding, no noticeable slop in the bearings. Hoping these symptoms point to something common. Not likely I'll do the work myself, but would appreciate any input.
Likely a wheel bearing. If it's going away on right turns it's likely the right side since the weight of the vehicle goes to the left side on right turns, taking the weight off the bad right side bearing. If you get the wheel up and in neutral you can hold the coil spring and it will feel more rough than on the other side when spinning the wheel, when done for comparison.
