EF Civic Hatch General Suspension Recommendations?
I just recently purchased a 85k mile 1990 Civic Hatch DX automatic. Everything is still stock besides the wheels I put on (15" fat fives with 205/50/15) and I daily drive it. I would like to continue to keep it a semi-comfy daily driver, but stiffen the suspension to help around the corners. I have a plan on what to do, but would like some recommendations and in which order I should modify the suspension. I plan on saving up some and swapping it in about a year or so.
Goal: Semi-comfy daily but still able to rip corners.
First to last:
ST Rear sway bar (front as well?)
Bushings kit? I've read mixed reviews on whether to replace the bushings and what material I should use?
GC/Koni Yellows
LCA/UCS (Skunk?)
so on...
Brakes as well.
Open to suggestions, and just general information is appreciated. Here's a pic after I got the wheels on.
And yes I know about the search function.
Re: EF Civic Hatch General Suspension Recommendations?
Don't get a front sway bar. Just rear, ST is fine.
Say no to poly bushings. Just replace front and rear LCA with OE replacements with rubber already installed. Hard rubber whatever, if you really want but won't make a difference.
New ball joints everywhere. For front uppers, you can replace the balljoint if you can find the right part number, I'm sure you can sear h for it. Or just get a new arm, like I said above.
Don't get adjustable camber upper arms. You do not need them. Just get an alignment or learn to adjust your toe yourself.
new steering rack end bushing and proper pinion adjustment is really important and a significant cause of slop and poor feel and noise. Just replace the one white plastic bushing.
