Default trunk leak troubleshooting

Hi all,

I have a leak in the trunk that causes water to pool on the spare tire area. I hosed down the trunk area and have made these observations.

Inside the trunk, the area behind the green marker is wet and water would travel down from (??) through this area.

The green and red markers mark the areas that I hosed. I started low and moved my way up.

Green area (basically the whole trunk) = no leaks
Red area (by rear windshield seam) = leak

Could it be that the rear windshield seal is compromised and that I just need to get a glass shop to reseal? Is there anything else that I need to check to figure out the cause of this leak?

Thanks!

Default Re: trunk leak troubleshooting

I think you may have nailed it. I am skeptical there is any body seal in that area of the body under the outside shell.

The way to test is to dry it all out, then only spray the window area and try and divert the water away from the trunk lid to rule out the trunk seal and pinpoint the window area as the culprit.
