Anyway of knowing if the timing belt has been replaced ?
Hey there. Just acquired a 1995 Civic Lx 4dr manual transmission D15B7 this week due to a family member passing away. Old uncle Jerry had put a used engine into it 7000 miles ago(2020, didnt drive a whole lot) due to overheating from a cracked radiator. The new "used" engine had around 60k on it currently.
My question is, do you think the mechanic who installed the used engine would have done the timing belt and water pump? Or any reason why a mechanic wouldnt change it out ?
The Belt look perfect when I popped off the valve cover but am anxious since I have no way of knowing and we weren't able to find any paperwork on the engine work, or even what shop the work was done at.
I don't want to do any unnecessary repairs, but i definitely dont want to leave it up to chance. Should I just suck it up and do the timing belt ?

the timing belt is easy to do if you just want to change it and not have the worry. Remember that engine is an interference head so if the belt breaks, you will bend the valves
Dont abuse the engine and you will easily get MANY miles out of it. I currently have 430 THOUSAND miles on mine

Even my old and tired D16 was getting 40mpg on the highway before I swapped it out. No idea how many miles were on it but I suspect 200K+, I did essentially 0 maintenance on that engine knowing I was going to pull it anyway for a B series.
I seem to remember someone doing aero/MPG saving mods on an old Civic with a D series and they were able to get up to like 50MPG combined and 60+ on the highway. It's crazy how efficient these engines are.
