Default What model should I buy?

Hello
I'm considering buying an old Honda to restore as a project with my dad; does anyone have any suggestions of which models to buy/avoid?

also any general tips for first time purchase would be helpful!

thanks
Tom

Old gold wings are pretty cool. You could also do an old cb500 into a Cafe racer/bobber

I'm currently resurrecting an '85 CB650sc Nighthawk. '80s UJMs are a good bet, since parts are available, if not plentiful. Be careful with anything that might need bottom end work on the engine, since those parts have become scarce. Mine had a broken rod, but I was able to find a complete engine for a little over $300. The 650 and 750 4s were plentiful enough that they're pretty easy to find in restorable condition. Smaller displacement bikes are really harder to find, and usually, the owners want too much for the 250s and 350/360s. I believe that's what's called nostalgia pricing--- everybody remembers their beginner bikes. One thing is for sure, barring the aforementioned bottom end caution, you can BELIEVE in Honda engines!
