Big brakes
Hello can someone explain something because i cant find a clear info about this.... Sooo i bought mini cooper rotors that are 280mm and some calipers from CRV 1 2.0i and i wanted to do a big brake kit on my 5th gen civic hatch that is euro d13b2 lowest spec and as i tried to fit the calipers i couldnt bolt them because the disc were too big by not much but still... everywhere i look they're doing it this way and im wondering if its because of my knuckle and the bolting point onn my knuckle ar shorter idk if someone know id like to tell me thanks
You would need the larger knuckle as fitted to upper-spec Civic for the 260mm diameter brakes to fit the Mini 280mm disc rotors.
The early CRV 'type-R' calipers will add 10mm clearance to allow the smaller knuckles for 240mm to fit the 260mm disc rotor of the better Civic & Integra or take those knuckles up the next size.
Be aware the CRV caliper are much heavier and have larger bore wheel cylinders than the smaller calipers, needing more brake fluid affecting front/rear proportioning unless the proportioning valve is also changed, & possibly also requiring a bigger bore brake master cylinder.
