Crank But No Start, No Spark, P1382 & P0141
Hi I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX MT that I bought from a family member who was going to let it go to scrap because it died on them when driving and wouldn't restart. I've confirmed that it will crank but not start. Checked for spark and found none and knowing these distributors are bad about going out I replaced it with a brand new unit. Still cranks but doesn't start and still doesn't have spark. Scanned vehicle and I'm getting codes P1382 & P0141 stored in the ECM. I get 800 ohms at terminals 3 & 4 on the distributor, no continuity to ground from either terminal 3 or 4 of the distributor, 800 ohms at terminals 29 & 30 of the ECM connector 31P, and again no continuity to ground from terminal 29 of the ECM connector 31P. At this point the ESM says to substitute a known good ECM and recheck. I just wanted to confirm with everyone that no one has had a weird issue coming from somewhere else like the main relay that could possibly be causing my no start condition.
Update. I've replaced the ECM with 2 different ECM's from the scrapyard, programmed them, and did the immobilizer setup and the exact same codes have returned and the vehicle still cranks but doesn't start. No spark out of the #1 spark plug wire confirmed again. Will continue to update thread as I diagnose so that I can provide some help to someone since no one wants to reply back to this thread.
Fixed Update. Checked if the distributor rotor was turning while someone cranked and rotor doesn’t turn at all. I guess that’s on me for assuming that since the cam gear was turning that the cam was good. Going to snag a new head this weekend and it will be up and running!
