Minimal Stereo Setup?
Hey All,
Long time no post. My EG's mostly doing track duty these days, and I need to remove the radio to fit gauges but don't wanna lose sound entirely since it does also see some road time and I drive it to/from the tracks. I picked up some things to make it work, but am curious about what others have done.
My plan is to stick one of these guys in the cigarette lighter hole: I got a crummy little amp to stuff behind the current stereo opening:
Has anyone done anything similar? What did you do and how do you like it? I was trying to do something totally headless but having no physical control at all ended up being a problem in my local out-of-car testing (dangerous volume/track adjustments, unpredictable volume levels, etc.).

Have you looked into the JDI ghost box?

What I used to do when I had no BT radio is just stick a JBL Flip 4 in the gauge cluster area. It projected the sound towards me the best from there. It has physical buttons if you need to raise/lower/pause. A 92-95 civic gauge cluster might not be deep enough, but some velcro strips might also solve that problem. Plus, it’s removable.
If you don’t want that, the simplest solution is going to be a headunit relocation if you have space.
Given that lower consoles for 92-95 civics are probably worth more than the car, it may be easier to just hard mount a stereo somewhere or fab a housing for it that mounts to the tunnel.
Or just be like all the other dorks today and drive around with headphones in

Got everything wired up an installed. The NXT thing seems like a sure thing. Fits right where the cigarette lighter goes and provides enough control.
That Pyle amp...needs to go. Has a nasty hum at low input volumes and generally sounds crap. All in all, I'm gonna call it a win for now!
