the part in the attached pictures comes off of a 1991 CRX Si.
The car is 100% original and so this is for sure from my USDM 91 Si even if the markings on the part say D18A (engine is of course a D16A, but this isn't an engine part).
The part seemed to have fallen out of the driver's side door somewhere.
Can anyone tell me what this doohickey is and where I need to remount it?
It's about an inch cube size. It's got a small lead weight inside that seems to trigger a little red switch thingy. I'm suspecting it's related to the seat belt inertial mechanism. Will next do as you propose and remove both door panels and investigate.
I was going to say aswell, check the other door, it doesn't even look like it should even be in the door.. what function does that have? If your window rolls up and down, door closes and the handle works, throw that pos away! if you have those stupid door mounted seat belts, diagrams do not even show that type of part. That part ID is odd too. Might not even be a honda part, could just a mystery gift from the previous owner??
Mystery solved. It is indeed a part from inside the seat belt mechanism on a 90/91 door mounted belt system.
The driver's side mechanism cracked open and this part had fallen out.
Pictures attached on the passenger side one to show you where it's located.
Lol strange part it was! After I posted originally I had a feeling It was for the belt mechanism with it have that sorta hook as a guide for the belt. Never seen one before and wonder what it does, glad in Canada we have pillar mounted seat belts and not those silly door mounted ones.
