When I put in the key and turn the key enough to turn on lights but not to crank the light on drive will be green and it turns on but when that green light is not on it will not turn on

Could it be something with your gear selector is not working correctly. Maybe needs some sort of adjustment? Try moving the selector slightly out of where it should be and see if the light stays on for you to be able to start it? If so then there's some adjustment that needs to be made.
