Default '91 Honda CRX - What gear to use for standard driving

I recently bought a 91 CRX and I'm unsure about which D gear to use for every day driving. I've been using D3 and it works great, however I've been told D4 is what I should use, however D4 caps out at about 55. What gear should I use??

Use D4 in normal driving (e.g., in-town and highway). D3 is more use to climb grades to prevent "hunting" between 3rd and 4th gear; or when increased braking is needed.

If your car is being capped at 55 in D4, something is wrong with your car.
