The speedometer on my accord hasn’t worked for a while now hoping to fix it. Needle bounces erratically or just sits at zero. After a while of driving especially highway speeds it kicks back in with relative accuracy (wavers a little). Odometer and all other gauges still function as they should.
I’ve seen some other forums on this but they all say it’s the vehicle speed sensor. I’ve already put in a new VSS and checked the wiring to it as well as the number 1 fuse. No change in symptoms and wiring seems good.
Hoping not have to replace gauge cluster but i’m thinking that’s one of the few things left unless the gear the VSS connects to inside the transmission is messed up. Any suggestions of things I should try/ check before putting in a new speedometer would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
If there wasn't a Check Engine Light and no trouble code related to the VSS, it is usually not going to be the VSS.
It likely is a faulty speedometer. A lot of people had the faulty speedometer problem. You can just swap the speedometer circuit board from the back of the speedometer head, that way you retain the original miles on the odometer.
