Climate control “swap”
So I recently got a 2001 Accord lx, and it had the highly annoying issue of the climate control unit (manual controls, not the digital auto) randomly shutting off. Blower motor control would work but everything else was totally random, which sucked when it would shut off in the middle of changing vent position. So eventually I found a 1998 Accord in my local wrecking yard, and I went and bought the whole bezel, clock and all since my vents where all busted up as well. Well I noticed as I was swapping the bezel that there was some changes made to the shape of it, including the clock/hazard switch. Strangely the 98 hazard switch would plug in upside down, and when pressed it would activate all my electrics as if the ignition was in the “run” position. I also noticed that, while the 98 climate unit functions perfectly, most of the led lights that indicate what setting is currently on don’t work, and after thinking about the oddity of the hazard switch, I’m worried about the long term compatibility of my “swap”. I did manage to cram the 01 clock assembly into the bezel, the bottom clips just don’t reach. Has anyone else done a replacement of this nature, and does anyone know if any potential problems this might cause? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long winded post, I just like to be detailed.
