Default 97 Accord JDM f22b swapped headache

Ok please someone help me I have been building cars for 40 years now but I am not really familiar with Honda yet . I recently purchased a 97 Accord that has been engine swapped it has the JDM f22b1 sohc VTEC one problem I keep getting random misfire on all cylinders code and I have no VTEC that I can tell. I have looked at the ecu it's a poa if I am remembering correctly I didn't do the swap so I don't know if the motor is obd 1 or 2 when I got the car there was a obd1 ecu in the trunk so I thought it might be the one that came with the motor so I ordered a obd 1to2 adapter harness plugged it up and it idle very bad the trans wouldn't shift right but at certain rpms it ran a lot better. Right now it's got no power I got out ran by a garbage truck the other day. I don't know if they used the harness for the motor or the car . So can someone help me please because I am putting a turbo on the car in a couple of days and I would like to have the problem fixed first thanks

Make the engine run properly BEFORE you add the turbo kit.

Yeah I plan to that's why I am trying to get some insight as to the problem I'm getting codes 1399and misfire codes for all cylinders. On farther expection I think that when they swapped it they used the harness for the car not the motor Because there's a wire on the injector rail wiring that has no place to go so if it was the harness that came with the motor everything should plug in somewhere. I guess what I need to know is what ecu I need to have in the car for the JDM sohc f22 and should I have the JDM motor harness or the factory harness I don't know what kind of motor was in the car to begin with I guess maybe the vin number would tell me if I knew what number to read and what number means what Motor . Any help out there?

A JDM harness will not fit the car... you MUST use the engine harness from the original chassis. If you don't know if you have the original engine harness for the '97 Accord, then you should locate one that essentially fits the exact same chassis that you have. For example, if you have a '97 Accord EX Automatic chassis, find a '97 Accord EX Automatic engine harness from the salvage yard.

Remember that the F22B essentially comes in the '94-97 Accord, so this isn't a hard swap. You are missing something here... and it may be simple.

I read somewhere that the JDM motors are missing I think the crank sensor and that it's in the distributor and wasn't the f22 in the accord non VTEC the car I have is a 97 lx do you know where I can get a wiring diagram for the engine and I also need to know what ecu I should be running because I don't know if I have the right ecu .

There are THREE sensors on both the USDM and JDM F22 engines... TDC, Crank Position (CKP), and Cylinder Position (CYP). On the USDM engine, two of these are mounted on the oil pump and are signaled by the crankshaft and the last one is inside the distributor. The JDM engine has all three sensors in the distributor, so there are TWO ways to deal with this:

1) Create a jumper harness that connects the four wires of the two sensors and bring them around to the distributor and splice/connect them to a matching plug to the JDM distributor. (OR)
2) Use a USDM oil pump and lower timing cover and install them on the JDM engine (you will need the crank gear and balance shaft gear from the USDM engine to make things work) and then no modifications to the wiring harness are necessary... everything will plug right in. You will use the USDM distributor instead of the JDM one.

I'm doing this exact swap currently and need to find wiring diagrams. Any pointers on where to look are appreciated, thanks
