Greetings all - I'm new here. I have a 2006 Honda Civic - it's been a great car. A couple days ago I noticed an oil leak under the car. On investigating - it appears the oil is coming from the lower torque rod bracket where it's mounted to the oil pan. Is that possible I am assuming a washer failure - but I can't see any information on washers being used there. Is this the sign of something worse?
Does the bolt in the oily hole appear to be OE or aftermarket ? I have seen many cases when someone is doing some service on an engine and loses/misplaces a bolt, in a hurry replaces it with something that they found lying around, and it turns out that the replacement bolt is too long ! This bottoms out in the hole, cracks the aluminum device (in this case, your oil pan) and creates a leak.
