Default All the way from Ireland - what ya think?

<FONT COLOR="blue">Hey, I live in Ireland(land of crazily priced car insurance, tax ,petrol and mods). Hence why my car is a 1.4 .

It wud be the equivalent of your 1.6 hatch in that its the base engine, tho it has the spec of like ur EX's i think-E/W, E/S/R, Airbags X2.

Pics`are a bit dark, there is a lot more purple in the colour, Will get better ones when get chance.

(P.S.Cant remove rear badges@mo cos boot wos re-sprayed b4 i had here and the lazy bastards just taped the badges so theres a nice line of lacquer around em if i take em off!!)

Mods are as in sig. Honda claim her@91bhp, tho I had her dyno'd as standard@ 97.6bhp@the fly. Now with the exhaust she clocked 14.9bhp@fly & 100lbs of Torque, not bad for a 1396cc engine!
Heres the dyno run anyways:

Just to give an idea of how expensive stuff is over here. The Mods so far (as in Sig) have cost over €5500(~$5500) and I even fitted the susp,&installed the stereo and sound deadening myself!

Petrol: Normal (95Unleaded): ~86c/Litre
Tax on my car: 248/yr(same for 1300-1399cc)
Insurance: €2000/yr (under my Dads policy,me 2nd driver. Im nearly 20, My own insurance wud be like €/$5000 -for a 1396cc engine!!! )

The above combined with me being a student&only working part time is why I dont have a bigger more powerfull engine

<FONT COLOR="blue">Yup! As in my sig, they are 16" OZ Superleggeras, one of OZ'z Lightweight range.

Chosen 1stly due to the lightweight and then cos i love the look, eventho for the yr my car was stock I had my heart set on a set of 5spokes!! tut-tut! (everything so far was done between August'02 - October '02 -I went mad during the summer and worked 2jobs!, but now im back @college &broke again! )

<FONT COLOR="blue">heh, pityful aint it!

1396cc
Engine code: Think its D14Y?? will check l8r, am in college@mo&the car park is like a 5min walk away!
16valve,
Fuel Injected
SOHC

Honda's claims:
91BHP
0-60: 10.8secs

My stock Dyno run: 97.6bhp
95.8lbs torque

Stock exhaust-Bore: 2" from manifold to CAT, 1&5/8's from CAT back
My exhaust: Stainless steel 2" bore whole way, with CAT removed.

Dyno run post exhaust: 104.9bhp
100lbs torque

Gain: 7.3bhp. :D

That dyno is thought to maybe over read a bit, but only by like 1bhp on those figs.
the dyno runs are in my 1st post, with the lower line in each pic being the stock run which the guy had saved on the computer.

<FONT COLOR="blue">well I have planned on it, well, i had planned on the Type R lips front & rear, but not yet, 2much to do 1st, &cash is v.limited@mo. Also wanna finish on handling &performance stuff 1st - custom CAI, DC Sports header. sway bars front & rear, rear tie bar.

But with how low it is @the mo, I dont know if i can! Cos i barely clear all the dam speed ramps around now, partic bad are the ones on the way into college car-park.

you can just about get a normal size pen(Bic pen?) under the very front of my bumper, bot under the sides at all, and theres like 2.5" under my stone guard and sump!!

-its dropped 66mm(2.6") front & 53mm(over 2") rear -and thats on only 16's w/195-45-16's which r virtually same size the stock combo.

<FONT COLOR="blue">Nope! Thats just the way it is!

Well insurance has gotten particularly bad over the past few yrs...well doubled from what it was bout 3 yrs ago i suppose(comnbination of inflation,+rates not increased for a few yrs), but its fairly steady now at that.

As for petrol, well nope, its never been gr8, but its worse in England - I was over there 2 see a Car show a show in July and prices varied from 1.13-1.26/Litre of petrol, but England has MUCH MUCH cheaper insurance and tax, and prices of cars and modifications are a lot cheaper. And they get have good roads, cos of all the tax on petrol i assume.

re: Roads-thats why you wont find many ppl here with cars as low as mine, ppl just either A.are not prepared to put up with a harse ride due to the quality of our roads, or B.its so expenisve to buy decent kit to have a bearable ride on our roads when as low as mine. Most ppl here stick with a 30mm-40mm drop(25mm=1") and thats also on other cars, which as we all know are usually about 15-20mm higher than Civics as stock.

But since for me the priority is performance, in as much as I can afford. And since this is the biggest engine I can afford to buy/run/insure I like good handling, hence why I pushed and got the Konis and dropped it so much-when I do encounter a nice corner it all feels worth it!

i never understood why insurance is so high over there.

I have a 90 si and i pay 230 every 6 mo for liability.

on an ek i would pay about 400 liability every 6 mo.

perfect record, and im 21.
